The inaugural event on the Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific 2024 calendar builds on Rizqy Motorsport's previous success, where they clinched victories in both rounds. Rio Saputra Budiharjo secured the first Sprint win, while Daffa Ardiansyah Budiharjo and Dikco Prasetyo Wahyu Utomo sealed the weekend with an Endurance Race triumph.
As the new year kicks off, Rizqy Motorsport aims to maintain their momentum but faces tough competition from Ahmad F. Alam of Apriwa Motorsport and Ahmad Aldio Oekon of Citadel Racing Team, both hungry for Sprint victories following podium finishes in the last round. In the Endurance Race, Oekon seeks to continue his podium streak, while December's Am winners Hendrik Jaya Soewatdy and John Kwon strive for another strong performance in their Semen Merah Putih Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992).
Expect fierce competition across Pro-Am and Am classes, with Luckas Dwinada and Apriwa Motorsport's Alam and Setia Laksana claiming Pro-Am glory in Rounds 1 and 2, and Ruffino victorious in the Am class, challenged by Soewatdy and Kwon.
Situated on Lombok's scenic coast, the 4.313-kilometer Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit promises thrilling racing with its quick turns and challenging braking zones. The event, scheduled for January 12-14, features the Sprint Race on Saturday at 15:15 local time, followed by Sunday's Endurance Race at 11:20, both livestreamed on the Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia YouTube channel. Rounds 5 and 6 will conclude the month's action on January 26-28.
Alexandre Gibot, Managing Director of Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific Limited, expresses excitement for the upcoming season and wishes competitors luck for Rounds 3 and 4.
Meanwhile, Bagoes Hermanto, CEO of Superstars Motorsport, anticipates evolved strategies from teams in the second race weekend, following lessons learned from the initial events.
